If you're looking to take your hill-walking skills to the next level then our one day 'introduction to mountain navigation' course is just for you. We'll introduce you to the map and compass, explain what they do, how to use them and how they work with each other. We'll teach you about route planning using paper and digital maps and cover any other topics you might need help with to turn you into a confident and competent outdoor person.
When you're ready to progress we can help you move onto the National Navigation Award Scheme Bronze Navigator and Silver Navigator Awards.
Our mountain navigation training and map reading courses run throughout the year from the heart of the country in the Peak District National Park. We'll explain in advance what will happen over the weekend and ensure you've got the right gear for an enjoyable time in the countryside. This course takes place over one day and is held entirely outdoors so be sure to bring everything you need with you.

We set a limit of eight people on our courses however we often run with fewer.

Our 'introduction to mountain navigation' course takes place over one day usually running from around 8am to 4pm.
IS THERE AN assessment?
No there's no assessment for our one day 'introduction to navigation' courses so you can simply enjoy learning without any fear of assessment.
