If you’ve ever dreamt of sleeping under the stars at the foot of Snowdon, then dream no more! MountainXperience is pleased to announce it’s latest new Snowdon adventure – Snowdon Wild Camping!
Wild camping is just that – camping in the wild. Your Snowdon wild camp adventure will see you climbing to the summit of Wales’ highest mountain before setting up camp in the shadows of the mountain, cooking tea and then spending the night in the true remoteness of Snowdonia.

Are you looking to Climb Snowdon but don’t have access to a car or would simply just prefer to use public transport? Well it’s actually quite easy to start your Snowdon walk using local buses.
The Snowdon Sherpa is a unique bus service that travels around the foot of Snowdon. It creates an essential connection between the six main paths up Snowdon as well as the main car parks, villages and tourist attractions in the area. It’s particularly useful for walkers or climbers wanting to start their journey from one place and finish at another, or indeed for anyone who wants to travel around Snowdonia leaving the car at home.
If you’ve climbed Snowdon with MountainXperience and are looking for other things to do around Snowdonia and North Wales then you need to check out this great Staycation book from the team at Rough Guides.
With international travel restricted during the Covid 19 pandemic, and with travel rules still changing day-by-day, it’s no wonder that so many are hoping to avoid disappointment by continuing to holiday closer to home. The series brings you all the inspiration, ideas and practical advice you need to make the most of your time in well-loved UK destinations such as Snowdonia & North Wales. If you’ve been shocked by photos like this taken over the weekend you might well be thinking that the popular Snowdon scrambling route isn’t for you. This image was taken on Saturday 7th May 2022 by Ari Roberts and shows a queue of patient hikers standing atop the Crib Goch ridge heading up to the summit of Snowdon. For those not aware of this popular route, after you’ve scrambled your way up on to the ridge you then have to traverse the knife-edge arête with huge drops either side of you and little opportunity to ‘overtake’ slower walkers.
The media have jumped on the story too. North Wales newspaper, The Daily Post reported Picture shows huge queues forming along Snowdonia’s notorious Crib Goch ridge and Wales Online ran the same image proclaiming The huge queue on a notorious ridge in Snowdonia as visitors flock to see 1,000ft drop.
It’s definitely been a busy start to the climb Snowdon season. With a sunny(ish) Easter bank holiday weekend, school holidays and the first Easter we’ve been able to travel around the country since the pandemic it seemed like everyone had come to climb the highest mountain in Wales.
We’ve been out five times over the last week and a bit and it’s been an absolute pleasure to guide so many excited hikers to the summit of Snowdon (and back down again!) We’ve started the year with a 100% summit success rate with our youngest walker being eight-year-old Toby and our oldest Barbara (it’s more than our life’s worth to tell you her age!)
There have been lots of stories this weekend about toilet problems on Snowdon. This isn’t a new problem however the issues being reported over the bank holiday Easter weekend are hugely exaggerated. We work closely with the Snowdonia National Park volunteer wardens and are out regularly throughout the season chatting to hikers and picking up litter. Thankfully it’s very rare that we come across the problems being talked about currently.
However we do understand that if you’re planning on climbing Snowdon you’re likely to need to ‘go’ at some point during your adventure. So we thought we’d share some tips about how to go to the toilet when hiking up Snowdon.
If you’re looking for the ultimate gift idea for Christmas, a birthday or just to say ‘thank you’ then why not give the gift of adventure with a Snowdon gift voucher.
Sometimes you’re looking for a different type of present from the usual flowers, socks or books and there’s definitely something different about giving your loved one an amazing mountain experience. Our qualified and experienced mountain guides will take you to the top of Snowdon. We know mountain like the back of our hands.
