It’s definitely been a busy start to the climb Snowdon season. With a sunny(ish) Easter bank holiday weekend, school holidays and the first Easter we’ve been able to travel around the country since the pandemic it seemed like everyone had come to climb the highest mountain in Wales.
We’ve been out five times over the last week and a bit and it’s been an absolute pleasure to guide so many excited hikers to the summit of Snowdon (and back down again!) We’ve started the year with a 100% summit success rate with our youngest walker being eight-year-old Toby and our oldest Barbara (it’s more than our life’s worth to tell you her age!)
There have been lots of stories this weekend about toilet problems on Snowdon. This isn’t a new problem however the issues being reported over the bank holiday Easter weekend are hugely exaggerated. We work closely with the Snowdonia National Park volunteer wardens and are out regularly throughout the season chatting to hikers and picking up litter. Thankfully it’s very rare that we come across the problems being talked about currently.
However we do understand that if you’re planning on climbing Snowdon you’re likely to need to ‘go’ at some point during your adventure. So we thought we’d share some tips about how to go to the toilet when hiking up Snowdon.
It was a weekend of different weathers in the Peak District as seven amateur navigators signed up to improve their map and compass skills with MountainXperience.
On Saturday morning we met in the sunshine at the fabulous Penny Pot Cafe in Edale where the group enjoyed breakfast. The objective for the weekend was to complete the Silver NNAS Navigator Award. Six of the group had already completed their Bronze award with us so it was great to see them back again.
