Climb Snowdon with MountainXperience

It’s definitely been a busy start to the climb Snowdon season. With a sunny(ish) Easter bank holiday weekend, school holidays and the first Easter we’ve been able to travel around the country since the pandemic it seemed like everyone had come to climb the highest mountain in Wales.

We’ve been out five times over the last week and a bit and it’s been an absolute pleasure to guide so many excited hikers to the summit of Snowdon (and back down again!) We’ve started the year with a 100% summit success rate with our youngest walker being eight-year-old Toby and our oldest Barbara (it’s more than our life’s worth to tell you her age!)

A Snowdon Success Story

Despite a couple of cloudy summits over the long Easter weekend, yesterday we were blessed with nothing but blue skies as László, Szilvia, Anna and Sophie from Redditch, Worcestershire took on the mountain. They freely admitted that they weren’t a hiking family and had never climbed a mountain before. In fact they had a failed attempt on Snowdon two years ago so had unfinished business. However this time they had Simon from MountainXperience to make certain they made it to the top.

Throughout the day we kept everyone updated with where they were up to so there were no cries of ‘are we nearly there yet?) It’s essential to keep the younger members of the family motivated. Sophie was particularly keen to get off the path and explore the rocks which she was able to do safely under Simon’s watchful eye. It was such as nice day we were even able to have something to eat on the summit; unheard of in April.

The children were tired and the adults a bit ‘achy’ but everyone had a brilliant time and we hope to see them out in the mountains again very soon.

To top off a wonderful day on Snowdon, we received this lovely feedback from László:

I can highly recommend Simon, he is very experienced and the service is superb. He kept us informed about the trail, and the upcoming challenges ahead. Also he entertained and kept our daughters motivated. This was our very first hiking to any mountain and we managed to do it in about 6 hours. Absolute beginners with children can make it to the summit.
