This week we’ve delivered one of our popular outdoor first aid courses for a fabulous team of volunteer leaders from LGBTQ+ charity, OutdoorLads.

Over the two days, the group of 12 spent time inside and outdoors learning about vital ways to keep their hiking buddies safe in the outdoors. Topics covered ranged from how to summon assistance in the remote environment, incident management, dealing with extreme heat and cold as well as resuscitation, catastrophic bleeding control and more common injuries faced by those walking in the hills and mountains of the UK.

They’re now able to treat burns, wounds, bleeds, deal with poisoning, spinal injuries, respiratory disorders, bones, joints and muscle injuries and much more.

Well done Lads and thanks for stepping up to help keep your outdoor colleagues safe.

OutdoorLads is a friendly group for the gay, bi, and trans community to get together to enjoy adventures and activities. Our events are run by volunteers all over the UK and we also organise expeditions worldwide. There’s something for everyone, no matter your experience.
