Former soldier, retired Police Officer and now professional mountaineer, Andy moved to North Wales during the pandemic to turn his long-term hobby into a full-time career. And he’s never looked back.
With over 20 years experience delivering Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) expedition training, there isn’t much Andy doesn’t know about the outdoors. You’ll often find him working for MountainXperience on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) helping clients reach the summit or in the Peak District teaching map and compass skills on our National Navigation Award Scheme courses.
In his spare time, Andy is a keen scrambler and rock climber and is currently working towards his Winter Mountain Leader qualification so loves nothing more than playing in the snow.
Andy gives up his spare time as a volunteer warden on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) giving advice to hikers and helping keep the mountain litter free. He also organises hiking, scrambling and climbing events for the UK’s largest LGBTQ+ charity, OutdoorLads.
