Mark discovered the mountains after a difficult period in his life and they have now become his happy place for many years. A pandemic-delayed start to his mountaineering career meant he finally became a fully qualified summer ML at the start of 2023.
He has since gone on to become a volunteer warden on Yr Wyddfa which he absolutely loves and finds hugely rewarding. He strongly believes that just being on the mountain and engaging with people being able to give help and advice is a great way of spending his spare time.
Mark is also an Assistant Regional Coordinator for the Mountain Training Association (MTA) in North Wales where he’ll be running peer led events to help aspiring mountaineers reach their goals. The MTA is the membership organisation for all candidates of any Mountain Training qualifications including walking leaders, climbing instructors, coaches and camping leaders.
Mark also works with a large national charity to run and organise their fundraising events both in the UK and in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco.
When Mark is not guiding or volunteering he will often be seen out enjoying the mountains of Eryri with friends and family.
